Course of Mind Policy Guide

Case Study: Course of Mind Policy Guide

Project Overview

Client: ISTE / Course of Mind
Industry: K–12 Education, EdTech Policy
Project Type: Digital Policy Publication Design
Scope: 16-page digital-first policy guide

Project Scope & Challenges

Initial Request: Design a clear, engaging policy guide to help state and local education policymakers align their Requests for Applications (RFAs) with the learning sciences to improve edtech procurement and classroom practices.

Final Deliverable: A 16-page digital policy guide that translated complex learning sciences research into an accessible, easy-to-navigate format. The project required careful design to balance authoritative content with visual approachability, creation of custom icons and layout elements, and tight collaboration with researchers and policy experts to ensure accuracy. As Senior Designer, I led the visual design, layout strategy, and typographic system development to support comprehension and usability.

Final Thoughts

This project demonstrated the value of thoughtful design in policy communication. By prioritizing visual clarity, information hierarchy, and stakeholder accessibility, I helped produce a guide that empowered decision-makers to apply learning sciences in meaningful ways across schools and districts. The final publication provided actionable, research-based recommendations to a national education audience.
